Online Tutoring Jobs - How To Teach Online For Great Income
Online tutoring jobs can be a great source of income for language professionals. Language tutoring especially English tutoring has always been a way to generate supplement income for translators. Different from regular tutoring jobs, online tutoring allows you to deliver your course content to more students then you could reach face to face with the help of the internet. Online teaching is not just another form of online jobs from home. When done properly it can be a great way to attract more clients to your existing practice. It can also be used as an effective media to sell other services or products. Looking for companies that offer online tutoring jobs is like searching for a needle in the hay stack – it's time consuming and you won't find many quality jobs anyways. But with a solid plan and some careful implementation, teaching online can be a pivotal addition to your regular job or home business. Here are a few critical steps to launch your online tutoring program: 1- Develop a great course idea Yes, you do need to develop a specific topic for your course. Just teaching English or teaching Chinese in general is not going to create a buzz - too many competitors out there. You need to find a narrower niche. How about a course helping people to understand medical terms for visits at doctors'? Or teach people how to write a business proposal? Or how to write an effective English resume etc.? You see, you need to create a topic that many people want to learn about – a topic with a language twist. That is your selling point. 2- Do a market survey Do not make the mistake of offering things you think people will buy. Go find a free online survey site and create a survey for free. Design your questions carefully so that you know what people are looking for in a course like you are going to offer. 3- Create an irresistable offer Design your online tutoring program in a way that translates value to your target market. An online lesson usually lasts for 30 minutes to 1 hour. You can offer a series of lessons or a single lesson on a specific topic. Let’s say you charge $20 for each student each class which is very affordable. If you can get 10 people to register, you’ll make $200 for that class. You can also record each class and make it into CDs to sell to more people. If the content is good, you'll keep cashing in without any extra work. Find a pressing issue and create your buzz around that topic so that people can't wait to learn from you. So in that sense online tutoring jobs are not really another form of jobs. They are online opportunities you can take to expand your translation practice. 4- Use available tools The great thing about online tutoring jobs is that you can do it from the comfort of your home and you can reach way bigger audience than you normally would with the help of available tools. Here are a few examples: - Use a reputable teleconference company
It’s often free to set up an account. The only cost is your regular long distance bill. But you can save money by using the service of Skype. Go to http://www.skype.com/ and learn how to make long distance calls for free or with very low rates. Just keep in mind – to enjoy the most benefits, both you and your students would have to use Skype. - Promote your offer through different channels
Don’t just sit there and wait for others to offer you online tutoring jobs – do everything you can to spread the word out there. Use social media, emails, videos, blogs, forums and post on free advertising sites such as Craiglist.
