5 Steps To Secure Quality Online Jobs From Home
Many freelance websites offer online jobs from home for translators with or without a fee. But these jobs often bring highly-demanding clients with a meagre pay rate. For many, the situation is depressing, but they feel powerless to counter such a trend. After all, there's no such thing as easy home base business. This is the market. Or is it? You don’t have to join the sweat shop scene. There’s such a huge need and demand for quality language translation services. You deserve to be paid for what you’re worth. But when you think like a freelancer, you are positioning yourself as someone just waiting for jobs to come your way. In that case your power is limited. You need to get in the drive seat to find quality work. You need to make things happen! Here are a few ideas to locate and secure high paying online jobs from home. 1-Seek out badly written brochures and flyers Find poorly written brochures and flyers in your working languages from companies targeting specific language clients. Remember as a translator, you are a writer, too. List a few key mistakes and inappropriate expressions, and try to rewrite a paragraph or two the best you can. Keep it on file. Proof read it a couple of times. 2-Find poorly written websites Our world is closely connected by the internet these days. I can’t think of any sizable business that does not have an online presence. But you won’t believe how many of those pages are terribly written. I’ve also noticed that many sites may have been adequately translated, but are definitely not client friendly. Worst yet, many web owners or companies don’t even realize how badly their web pages are. That's your chance to get some quality online jobs from home! 3-Contact the company The key part -- your opportunity to create quality online jobs from home. Contact these companies whose products/services are being promoted on these brochures and websites (do not contact the website creator or webmaster!). You can send an email, but it is important to follow up with a phone call. Ask for the person in charge. Make an appointment to meet with that person, or the highest level supervisor available. Tell him/her what you’ve observed on their brochures and websites. Raise the concern of badly written content and translation. Companies spend tons of money to improve public relation and promote positive image. They will listen to you if what you say makes sense and you are concise – that is after all what you are promoting, along with your translation skills. 4-Make your case List some major mistakes. Show them your version of the brochure/webpage. Listen for their comments and be amenable to changes. Make certain you are not just focused on translation work. Why? Because what you are proposing is more than a traditional translator job. To convince a client to pay top rate for your service, you have to be willing to go the extra mile and more. Your work has to be perceived as value added service. If you do exactly what other translators do, clients will naturally look for a cheaper price tag. 5-Establish a long term business relationship Once you get the first job ( online jobs from home) request using this method, make sure the job is done in an impeccable way and on time. Communicate with them during the process. Keep this client on your file. And follow up every month. Most of these businesses have ongoing translation job requirements, so if you take care of them, they will take care of you.
