About Joy Mo, Owner of Translators-Biz-Secret.com

Hi, this is Joy Mo from beautiful British Columbia, Canada. I have been a freelance translator /certified court interpreter in BC Canada since 2002.

When I first moved to Canada, it didn’t take me very long to decide that I wanted to be a court interpreter. That’s partly because I had been a Chinese to English translator in my home country before immigrating, I love working with languages, and partly because deep inside me I wanted to be my own boss.

I became a certified court interpreter in June 2002 and started my freelance career. Over the years I was fairly busy with my translation work. I was doing fine by most people’s standards.

But despite the fact that I was constantly praised by clients and agencies for my skills, I was disappointed. The work load was unsteady and the income I earned didn’t match the effort I put into it. That’s not to mention the expenses of being a freelancer.

I even took some part-time jobs to supplement my income. But there was another problem – as soon as my availability changed due to my part-time work, my job requests dropped significantly.

I realized whatever I was doing was just not working. But quitting was not an option for me, because languages and translation were my passion.

I was determined to find a solution, to find more clients and generating more income as a translator.

I read a lot about marketing and sales, and I also attended many webinars (seminars offered on the web) and teleclasses teaching business strategies. Then I started to implement some of the strategies I gathered to my translation business, and began seeing results. First a little, then a lot. Then I learned more, and it got even better.

In 2007, my husband and I welcome the birth of our second child. Spending more quality time with my family became my priority. With that motivation, I developed ways to leverage my time, and I created some new services that were related to translation. I was able to serve more clients while working more efficiently.

My little ones are 4 and 2 today and I am still working on my business. There’s still a lot to do and a lot to improve. But I don’t have to put as much time and stress in it, and my income is growing. It just gets better every day.

I am grateful, and at the same time I feel obliged to share my experience with other translators. I want you to know that with a proper mindset and adequate modules for your translation business, you can prosper too.

I‘d like to offer you my personal assistance here to make it happen.
